1. Bajji chilies 6
2. Besan 3/4 cup
3. Rice flour 2 tablespoons
4. Ajwain 1/2 teaspoon
5. Turmeric few pinches
6. Chili powder 1/4 teaspoon
7. Oil 1 teaspoon
8. Hing few pinches
9. Cooking soda 1 pinch
10. Salt to taste
11. Water about 1/2 cup
12. Oil for deep frying

For Vegetable Filling:

1. Oil 1 teaspoon
2. Capsicum, beans, & carrot, finely chopped, 2 tablespoons each
3. Potato, finely chopped and soaked in water, 2 tablespoons
4. Onion, finely chopped, 1 tablespoon
5. Curry leaves, finely chopped, 1 sprig
6. Ginger, finely chopped, 1/4 teaspoon
7. Groundnut, soaked in water for 1 hour, 1/2 tablespoon
8. Roasted jeera powder 1/4 teaspoon
9. Turmeric few pinches
10. Red chili powder 1/8 teaspoon
11. Coriander leaves, few sprigs
12. Salt to taste
13. Lemon juice to taste
14. Roasted sesame seeds powder 1 teaspoon
15. Water few teaspoons
16. Lemon juice to taste

How to Prepare Mirchi Bajji?

1. Roughly chop the groundnuts.

If you have fresh groundnuts, use it. In this case, no need to soak them.
2. Heat oil till it becomes hot.
3. Add onion, ginger and curry leaves.

Fry for a few minutes.

Add beans, carrot and potato.

Fry for a minute.
4. Add capsicum. Mix.

Cook till the vegetables are almost cooked.

If required, add a few teaspoons of water.
5. Add salt, chili and turmeric powder.


Add a teaspoon of water. Mix.

Cook for a minute.
6. Add sesame seeds powder, jeera powder and groundnut. Mix.

Switch off the stove.

Add coriander leaves and lemon juice and mix.

Mirchi bajji filling is ready.
7. Slit the chili.

Remove the content.

Stuff the filling.
8. Sieve besan.

Add rice flour, soda, ajwain, turmeric, salt, hing and chili powder.


Make a moderately-thick batter by mixing and adding water, little by little.

If you like besan and if you want to make mirchi bajjis similar to sold in stores, prepare thick batter with more soda.
9. Heat 1 teaspoon of oil.

Add to the flour mixture.


Batter is ready.
10. Coat a chili with the batter.

Drop gently into the oil.
11. Fry till the bajjis turn golden brown.

Remove and place on napkins.
