Ragi recipes are one of my favorite south indian vegetarian recipes,
because the food prepared from ragi is healthier.
The scientific name for Ragi / Finger Millet is
Eleusine coracana. The
consumption of ragi
is more common in Karnataka.
Ragi can be called as the king of millets, as it is an excellent food
for good health.
Ragi is rich in carbohydrate, protein and fiber.
The food made from ragi, particularly ragi balls /
ragi mudde, is said to prevent or control diabetes.
Other cuisines that can be made from ragi include ragi dosa, ragi soup,
ragi laddu, ragi roti, and ragi idli.
