Moong Dal Dosa Recipe

moong dal dosa recipe

sprouted moong dosa

Sprouted Moong - The dosas made from this item are healthier
With the moong dal dosa recipe, prepare nutritious and delicious dosas. In this recipe, I have used sprouted moong as the main ingredient. The reason is it is highly nutritious. Use the moong dal dosa recipe to prepare moong dosa that has a distinct taste of its own and that gives health benefits.

Puli inji or coconut, tomato, or onion chutney, or bitter gourd curry, can be a perfect side dish for this food.

Here is the info on how to make puli inji.

If you have been making only the "traditional" dosas, why not consider the moong dosa for its taste and nutrition? You can use moong, which is not sprouted, or moong dal also in this recipe.

Servings: 6-7 Dosas

1.
Moong whole (mung / green gram / hesarukalu) or moong dal 1/2 cup or sprouted moong 1 cup
2. Raw rice 2 tablespoons
3. Salt to taste
4. Oil
5. Cooking soda 1 pinch (optional)

How to make Sprouted Moong Dosa?

1. If you are using sprouted moong, wash the raw rice.  Drain the water. Soak the rice in water for 2-3 hours.

OR

If you are using moong whole, wash it and the raw rice.  Drain the water. Soak them in water overnight.

OR

If you are using moong dal, wash it and the raw rice.  Drain the water. Soak them in water for 2-3 hours.

This recipe assumes you are going to use sprouted moong.  The procedure, however, is also the same for moong whole and raw rice and moong dal and raw rice combinations.

1.
If you prefer crispy sprouted moong dosa, spread the dosa batter thinly on the entire hot tava.

Sprinkle little oil on the dosa with a spoon. Turn the flame to medium.  As soon as a few brown spots begin to appear on the dosa, turn the flame to low.
