Servings: 3-4

Ingredients:

1. Onions 2
2. Tomatoes 3
3. Red chilies 2-3 or to taste
4. Garlic cloves 2-3
5. Jaggery / sugar to taste
6. Oil 2-3 teaspoons
7. Mustard seeds 1/4 teaspoon
8. Salt to taste

Tomato Onion Chutney


1. Cut the onions and tomatoes into pieces.

2. Grind all the ingredients, except oil and mustard, into a paste.

NOTE
The water content in the onions and tomatoes is sufficient for grinding. If necessary, add little water and grind.
3. Heat oil in a utensil.

4. Add mustard when the oil becomes hot.

5. Add the ground mixture when the mustards splutter.

6. Fry till there is no raw smell of onions.

TIPS Onion Tomato Chutney
1. Use green chilies or chili powder as a substitute for red chilies.
2. If you like tomatoes, add more of these and use one onion.
3. To make the chutney sour, add a small piece of tamarind while grinding in Step 2.
